Autoupdating in Hot Plan and Changes Meter does not work correctly, I'm investigating this issue, meanwhile you can update manually from the downloads section of the website.
Changes meter 1.7.1 does not work under Mac OS X 10.4, I'm looking into it too.
Updated: a fix for both issues will be available within next week.
